We can all agree that 2020 was a year unlike any other.  As COVID19 continues to threaten guest safety hosts look for safe and creative ways to celebrate.

As you know, preparation is key when planning a wedding. Yet, the future right now, is uncertain and unpredictable.

So what's the solution?

Wedding designs this year will focus on protecting the health of your guests. Necessary trends born of safety regulations will be paramount. In 2020 58% of couples cut there guest count by an average of 41%1. Ceremonies are becoming more intimate. Quality has overcome quantity and your guests reap all the benefits.
Sound hard? It's easier than you think...

Outdoor/Tent

Nearly 50% of fall ceremonies take place outdoors. As we look ahead to 2021, data already indicates that October will be the most popular month to get married for the fourth consecutive year2.
Obviously tents are the way to go if you want to be sure the weather doesn't ruin your plans. Outdoor weddings allow more guests. Fresh air, nature as a backdrop and everyone you love celebrating.

That's not the best part...

  • Totally customizable as they come in all shapes and sizes
  • Floor layout is completely your own design
  • Heating lamps, fans or AC assist in climate control
  • Tent sides can remain open for air flow
  • Hello! Kid's tent!

Lounge Areas

Allow guests to congregate in lounge areas. Located in tents or outdoors add comfort and style to your design.

Vintage, Boho, Victorian, Eclectic...you do you. Here is an opportunity to inject your personality into your design. Make it comfortable and don't forget the lighting.

Gone, for now, are the days of massive tiered cake masterpieces. Don't worry they will be back again. For now many are going for mini.

Making beautifully packaged desserts a part of your tablescape will limit guest movement and contact with staff. Desserts can be boxed, individually packaged or placed atop each table on beautiful vintage cake stands.

No need to axe the cake cutting ceremony. Just because your guest's desserts are mini doesn't mean yours has to be. A small yet gorgeous two tiered cake can be used for your ceremony and to feed your wedding party.

Self Served Drinks

After dinner beverages can be self serve. These days you can find many mixed drinks in a can. There are many inventive ways you could present your beverages to guests.

But...

Bubbles and Brews
Vintage Mobile Bars are the neatest idea EVER! Yeah I said it. Looks cool, keeps beverages cool, comes in different vintage vehicles with anywhere from 2-12 taps. If your wedding is in Northern Michigan check out Bubbles and Brews.

Nanomoon

What is a Nanomoon?

It's a small honey moon. Not a replacement. Just a way to be together despite travel restrictions.

Here's why I mention this...

There are venues that offer accommodations for entire weekends and sometimes a whole week. Acres of land that are yours to roam and enjoy.

Here are some benefits:

  • Time to save for honeymoon
  • Less stress due to slower paced event
  • More time to enjoy and relish in your day
  • Room for creativity
  • Fur-babies welcome
  • Everyone is where they are supposed to be when they are supposed to be there.

Virtual Weddings

Check out 2020's virtual events report in the infographic below.3

Let's talk about a completely virtual wedding. In relation to what you would normally spend a virtual wedding is going to cost WAY less. Your guest list is limitless. Every guest is safe. You can get married now, celebrate now and have everyone attend safely.

Hire a virtual wedding planner to be sure your day is free from tech errors and flows appropriately. This will give you someone to handle problems should they arise and will give your guests the best virtual experience.

It's not all or nothing.

Now let's talk about a mix of the two. You can have your in person guests and add a virtual element for those that are too high risk to attend. Be sure to set aside time to get in front of the camera and converse with your virtual guests. This is really the best option for all as it gives vendors business in a time when they really need it and allows for the safety of ALL guests.
